Intensive full-time tuition is essential for training as a musical performer. The core artistic subjects (except dance) are taught in individual and group lessons (usually 8-10 students). The selected team consists of teachers with practical experience. In addition, there are workshops and main stage projects that prepare students for their entry into the profession through collaboration with established directors and choreographers.

  • Singing: solo singing, ensemble, song interpretation/audition practice, accompaniment
  • Dance: ballet, jazz, modern, tap
  • Acting: scene study and monologue work, project work
  • Speaking: Body, breath, voice, phonetics, articulation, text interpretation
  • Artistic practice: open stage, audition studios, repetition, accompanying instrument, vocal function, ensemble singing, show choreography, song interpretation

Participation in numerous productions of the Bayerische Theaterakademie August Everding, including a production on the main stage of the Prinzregentheater, is an integral part of the course. In addition, professional experience can be gained in collaboration with various cooperation partners and on stages in Germany and abroad. The course takes place both on the premises of Munich's Prinzregententheater and in the Bürgermeistervilla in Ismaninger Straße.

The professional spectrum is extremely broad and diverse: soloists and ensemble performers in major musical productions, at state and municipal theatres, in summer festivals and touring productions. There are also performers in film and television, members of pop and rock ensembles, as well as managers in the artistic field and decision-makers in creative teams.

“Artistic boundaries? We don't know any. Musical demands and encourages a unique perspective that constantly needs to be lifted, shifted and readjusted. Our challenge: there are no style boundaries in musicals, everything flows with, next to and into each other. Vocal lines from operetta, Broadway, pop and jazz meet with dance figures from tap, modern, jazz, hip-hop and with lyrics from Wedekind to Brecht to ABBA.”

Prof. Marianne Larsen, Head of the Musical course at the Bayerische Theaterakademie August Everding
