Bachelor of Arts
The following requirements must be met for admission to the Bachelor's degree programme:
- Interest in and attendance of theatre performances are essential
- Higher education entrance qualification or entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences, alternatively secondary school leaving certificate in combination with a vocational training qualification (hairdresser, restorer, sculptor, carpenter, art or theatre painter)
- Voluntary orientation internship (3 months) to begin studies at a theatre, in the film/television sector and/or in the hairdressing sector strongly recommended

The following must be submitted for pre-selection, which determines the invitation to the aptitude test:
1. All application documents must be submitted online via the portal.
All documents/information are requested or uploaded in the application portal.
The application portal for the submission of documents for the start of the winter semester 2025/26 is open until 7 January 2025.
2. The artistic portfolio with own designs and works to assess the relevant artistic talent (e.g. drawings, photos, documentation of already completed creative works) must still be submitted in analogue form. The portfolio must be accompanied by a written declaration from the applicant stating that the work was produced independently.
3. for non-German-speaking applicants, a command of the German language is a prerequisite. The Examination Office of the University of Music and Theatre Munich requires successful applicants to submit proof of attendance at a recognised language institute at the beginning of their studies.
Anyone who fulfils the admission requirements will be invited to the aptitude test. Applicants will be informed of the exact date in writing.
The aptitude test comprises:
- Practical examination: The practical examination consists of several tasks to be completed under examination conditions in the subjects of drawing, modelling, make-up and hairstyling.
- Oral examination: Applicants whose results in the practical examination allow further participation in the aptitude test take part in the oral examination. This tests specialised knowledge and general cultural education.
The decision on admission is made by the examination board based on the performance in the aptitude test after final consultation. The applicant will be informed of the decision in writing.
Applicants who have not been found to have sufficient knowledge in the areas of hair design and hair processing may be admitted to the degree programme with reservations. In such cases, applicants are strongly advised to acquire technical skills in these areas prior to the degree programme and/or during the lecture-free period between the 1st and 2nd semesters.
If the aptitude test is not passed, it can only be repeated once, at the earliest after one year.
The application portal for submitting documents for the start of the winter semester 2025/26 is open until 7 January 2025.
The deadline for the submission of documents (date of postmark or submission of documents) is also 7 January 2025.
A fee of €30 is charged for participation in the aptitude test.

Master of Arts

- A strong interest in art and culture is an essential requirement
- A portfolio with at least 20 of your own designs or works (e.g. drawings or photos of creative works already produced, etc.) is required
