The Theatre of the Future, here and now: Welcome to the Bayerische Theaterakademie August Everding
August Everding's vision of establishing an academic teaching theatre for stage professions under one roof has been brought to life at the Bayerische Theaterakademie August Everding, which now offers eight distinct study programs. Here, theatre is not merely rehearsed but fully realized on stage at the Prinzregententheater and the Akademietheater (Academy Theatre). Comprehensive preparation for careers in theatre is achieved through close collaboration with Munich's four universities and three municipal theatres. Students of the Bayerische Theaterakademie are officially enrolled at the university that hosts their specific program, all under the umbrella of the Theaterakademie.
The Bayerische Theaterakademie August Everding is a unique teaching and learning theatre: a professional theatre that aims to provide networked, practical training. Here, theatre is taught through actually staging it. Theory and practice go hand in hand in the eight degree courses: Acting, Music Theatre/Opera Performance, Musical Performance, Stage Directing, Dramaturgy, Scenography and Costume Design, Wigs, Make-up and Special Make-up Effects for Stage and Screen and Cultural Journalism.
