Bayerische Theaterakademie August Everding

In 1993, the Free State of Bavaria founded the Bavarian Theatre Academy on the initiative of August Everding. The aim was to provide artistic training for a variety of theatre professions under one roof. The Prinzregententheater in Munich became the home of this teaching and learning theatre. Since the 2022/2023 season, it has been headed by Prof Dr Barbara Gronau. With eight courses of study and three professionally equipped theatres (Prinzregententheater, Akademietheater, Akademiestudio), the Theaterakademie is the largest training centre for stage professions in Germany.

Prinzregententheater

The Prinzregententheater is one of Munich's major theatres and serves as a venue for the Bayerische Theaterakademie August Everding and the Bayerische Staatsoper. It is rented out to concert agencies and other event organisers as well. This means that visitors to the Prinzregententheater are always offered a varied, interdisciplinary programme - from readings and concerts to grand opera.

Akademietheater

The Akademietheater, which is located at the rear of the Prinzregententheater, serves as a performance venue for the directing, acting and musical productions of the Bayerische Theaterakademie August Everding. As an independent workshop theatre, it offers space for the productions that are created in collaboration with the various courses of study.
