Legenden und Mythen ranken sich um die über 5000 Jahre in Eis konservierte Mumie Ötzi, die 1991 in Südtirol zufällig entdeckt wurde. Aber wie ist es über 5000 Jahre unter einer dicken Eisschicht begraben zu liegen und darauf zu warten, endlich gefunden zu werden? Wann bekommt Ötzi eigentlich eine richtige Beerdigung? Haben wir überhaupt das Recht, seinen Körper so zu behandeln, wie wir es tun? Wie ist es, keine Worte mehr zu haben? Über diese und andere Fragen begibt sich der Performer auf die Suche. Über Improvisationen, körperliche Portraitstudien und den Kontakt zum Publikum versucht er einen eigenen Weg zu finden, die mysteriöse Geschichte von Ötzi zu erzählen. Denn, obwohl detaillierte Informationen über Ötzis Tod vorliegen, bleibt die wichtigste Frage unbeantwortet: Von wem und warum wurde Ötzi umgebracht? The short devised theatre performance Ö is about the mummy of Ötzi, found in South Tyrol in 1991, conserved in ice for more than 5000 years. What is it like to lie under a thick layer of ice for 5000 years, waiting to be found? What if there’s a proper burial missing? How can we be sure that we have the right to treat this body the way we do? What is it like to have no words? By asking these questions, the actor experiences a journey through his own possibilities - from physical portraying to improvising, getting into touch with the audience and finding his own way of telling a story. While we know some surprisingly detailed information about Ötzi, one we don’t know seems to be the most sensational: we know for sure that he was shot dead, but we will never know who killed him and why he was killed.
