Fast jeder dritte Mensch in Deutschland leidet im Laufe seines Lebens an einer behandlungsbedürftigen psychischen Erkrankung; nur wenige nehmen professionelle Hilfe in Anspruch. Dabei ist eine schnelle Behandlung im frühen Stadium oftmals wichtig, um den Krankheitsverlauf positiv zu beeinflussen und zu verhindern, dass Erkrankungen – wie Depressionen, Angststörungen oder Psychosen – chronisch werden.
The Bayerische Theaterakademie aims to create a working and learning environment that protects and promotes the mental health of its members. It strives to make it possible for students with mental health conditions to study, to encourage an open approach to stress and crisis situations, and to organise support on a case-by-case basis. As part of a training programme, Mental Health First Aiders (MHFA) have been certified; they are available as points of contact, seek to engage in conversation if concerns arise, and refer students to support services.
