What is the ARGE?

The Bayerische Theaterakademie August Everding promotes equality between female, male and non-binary persons at all levels of study, teaching, art, research and service. It actively opposes abuse of power, all forms of discrimination and disadvantage, sexual harassment and violence against students, staff and lecturers.

To this end, it has established the working group ‘Against Abuse of Power, Discrimination, Sexual Harassment and Violence’ (ARGE) as a permanent body. It provides a confidential space in which conflicts can be discussed and solutions developed together.

All members and affiliates of the Theaterakademie are therefore particularly encouraged to help create a working and learning environment that offers space for artistic development, is characterised by mutual respect and tolerance, and in which there is no place for disadvantage, discrimination, sexual harassment or violence.

Mission

The ARGE is committed to compliance with the established regulations and raises awareness among employees, lecturers and students for fair treatment of one another through its educational work. To this end, it regularly conducts surveys on the topics of abuse of power, discrimination, sexual harassment and violence, and communicates the evaluated results in information and discussion events.

An educational and training institution such as the Bayerische Theaterakademie August Everding, where artistic training requires a large proportion of individual and small group lessons, personal connections with teachers, a physical presence and emotionality, needs a protected space such as that offered by the ARGE in order to be able to deal with sensitive issues constructively.
