Plot
The engine rumbles. With a groan and a creak, the bus leaves the station. Next stop: Akademietheater Mitte. Based on his documentary research, director Serge Okunev explores experiences of forced migration and weaves them in a moving theatre performance. The audience travels along the steps of old myths and fairytales: from the first crossing of the threshold into the unknown, through the confrontation with one’s fear to the final triumph and celebratory feast.
What links modern travellers with archetypal heroes and what commonalities are revealed by swapping stories? Through laughter and play, the audience and the ensemble create an alternative room of joy, while catastrophes pass by behind the windowpanes.
