Requirements
- General higher education entrance qualification or similar according to § 29 QualV. If you pass the aptitude test, a secondary school certificate is sufficient as a university entrance qualification.
- Timely application with all required attachments
- Passing the regulated aptitude test at the Bayerische Theaterakademie August Everding
- Sufficient spoken and written German (B2)The aptitude test consists of a three-stage procedure.
The application deadlines for the Bachelor's and Master's programs will be announced in good time. A list of required documents and the application form can be found below under Downloads.
Required documents
- A fully completed application form with a recent passport-sized photograph attached
- A detailed CV in table format, including evidence of previous artistic activities
- A copy of your birth certificate, identity card, passport or residence permit
- Copy of the most recent school report
- Proof of general university entrance qualification or general university admission eligibility in accordance with Section 29 of the Qualification Regulations
- Academic qualifications obtained by students abroad are only recognised as proof of general university entrance qualification or as proof of eligibility for university admission if they have been recognised by the Munich University of Music and Performing Arts. Foreign certificates are only accepted if accompanied by an officially certified translation (English certificates do not need to be translated)
- If you have a recognised severe disability, please enclose a certified medical certificate. In this case, please arrange an appointment for an information session before registering
- if applicable, a certificate of enrolment from your current university
- Reasons for choosing this course
- Proof of German language proficiency in accordance with Section 17 of the Qualifications Ordinance (applies only to foreign applicants from non-German-speaking countries and to Germans whose mother tongue is not German).
- Proof of payment of the €30 aptitude test fee (copy of bank statement or cash deposit receipt)
- On the day of the Level I exam, you must bring an A4 sheet listing the three prepared monologues, including the title, author and role – an excerpt from a classical monologue (in verse or formal language), a monologue from a modern play, and a monologue of your own choice

Procedure
The aptitude assessment process is divided into three stages. Only those who pass all stages will be admitted to the programme. To be eligible for Stage II, candidates must have passed Stage I. To be eligible for Stage III, candidates must have passed Stage II.
The first two semesters of study count as a probationary period.
Dates and deadlines
Level I aptitude test: either on 11 November 2025 or on 3, 4, 5, 8 and 9 December 2025.
Depending on the number of registrations for December, participants will be allocated to either 3, 4, 5, 8 or 9 December 2025.

For the examination on 11 November 2025: 30 September 2025
For the exams on 3, 4, 5, 8 and 9 December 2025: 30 October 2025. Invitations for these will be sent out from around 15 November by post and email (please ensure your email address is clearly stated on the registration form).
Stage II Aptitude Test
12, 13, 14 and 15 January 2026 (all candidates who have reached Stage II will be allocated to one of the four dates)
Stage III Aptitude Test
20 and 21 January 2026 (Level III will take place on both days for all applicants who have reached Level III)

A fee of €30 is charged for taking part in the aptitude assessment process.

Semester fees
Tuition fees were abolished in 2013/2014.
However, a basic fee of €97 per semester is charged for the student services organisation.
The semester ticket for public transport has been abolished, which is why students are advised to purchase the Deutschlandticket.
