Acting (Bachelor / Master)

How does the course work?

  • Acting: acting basics, acting methods (Stanislavski, Chekhov, Method, Meisner, Chubbuck), playing with make-up, clowning, scenical teaching, projects under professional working conditions, working with different theatre styles, improvisation, introduction to film and media work, advanced media work (e. g. dubbing), acting in front of the camera
  • Bodywork: performing movement, fencing, dance, acrobatics, movement theory and martial arts, stage application, individual bodywork
  • Speaking: speech training, breathing training, basic phonetics
  • Singing for actors: Voice training, musical basics and song interpretation, ensemble singing, chanson
  • Projects: Large and small scale productions in the venues of the Bayerische Theaterakademie are an integral part of the course. Students regularly have the opportunity to take part in productions at the Residenztheater, the Münchner Kammerspiele, the Volkstheater, the Schauburg, the Metropoltheater and many more. Another important partner of the acting course is the Munich University of Television and Film (HFF).
  • Exchange: The PLETA (Platform for European Theatre Academies) and E:UTSA (Europe: Union of Theatre Schools and Academies) networks offer students the opportunity to gain experience at over 20 European theatre academies in the form of exchanges, workshops, productions and seminars. In this context, students regularly take part in international festivals (e. g. Warsaw, Budapest, Brno, Paris or Amsterdam) with productions from the acting course.

What comes afterwards?

Graduates of the acting course work at outstanding municipal and state theatres as well as in the independent scene and in film and television.
