All application documents must be submitted online via the portal.
All documents/information are requested or uploaded in the applicant portal. The application portal is open between April 23 and October 6, 2025.
The following requirements must be met for admission to the bachelor's degree program:
- Curriculum vitae in tabular form
- Copy of birth certificate or copy of identity card
- Copy of last school report
- A passport photo with name
- A general medical certificate (not older than 6 months)
- Proof of paid application fees of € 30.00 (copy of bank statement or cash payment receipt)
- To be submitted to the commission on the day of the examination: Repertoire list in seven copies

The application portal for submitting application documents for the summer semester 2026 is open between April 23 and October 6, 2025.
The aptitude tests are then as follows:

Decision on admission to the degree program:
The results of the examination rounds will be communicated to the applicants at the end of the respective rounds. This also applies to admission to the degree program. The aptitude test can generally be repeated twice in the event of failure.
The standard period of study for the Bachelor of Arts degree is 6 semesters:
The first two semesters are regarded as a probationary period in accordance with the statutes of the Munich University of Music and Performing Arts dated 13.03.2001.
Application fees
A fee of € 30 is charged for participation in the aptitude test.

Semester fees
Since the winter semester 2013/2014 there are no more tuition fees.
However, a basic fee of € 85 per semester is charged for the Studierendenwerk.
The semester ticket for local public transport has been abolished, which is why students are recommended to purchase the Deutschlandticket.
Procedure of the aptitude test
The aptitude test is divided into three stages: Aptitude test level I, level II and level III. The prerequisite for admission to aptitude test level II is passing aptitude test level I. The prerequisite for admission to aptitude test level III is passing aptitude test level II.
Aptitude test I - III
The examination takes place in the classrooms of the Theaterakademie in the Prinzregententheater, Prinzregentenplatz 12 in Munich.
The following must be prepared for the aptitude test:
- at least five songs (at least one of which must be in English);
- of which a.) one musical scene;
- of which b.) four further songs (maximum one song from the non-musical area)
- one folk song a cappella (key of own choice)
- one own choreography of at least one minute
- at least one acting monologue in German
- one short prose text or a poem (all to be performed by heart)
- two instrumental pieces: either both on the piano or one on an instrument to be brought along, one on the piano
- In addition, elementary knowledge of musicology/ear training (determining intervals, basic knowledge of harmony) is tested in level III aptitude tests.
The following applies to all examination rounds:
Pianists from the academy are available. However, it is also possible to bring your own pianist.
The applicant must bring their own sheet music (neatly glued and clearly legible; transposed if necessary) to all examination rounds.
Dance or training clothing is required for the movement tests.
For the own choreography, the music must be brought along on a sound carrier (USB stick, smartphone, CD or MC).
Aptitude test level I
In the aptitude test level I, the:applicant:may select the first performance. The examination board may interrupt and decide on further performances. If one of the vocal numbers, the monologue, the poem or the choreography is not or only partially prepared, the aptitude test level I will be assessed as “failed”. The dance examination takes place in the group. Passing the aptitude test level I entitles the candidate to take part in the aptitude test level II.
Aptitude test level II
The examination board selects the performances. The examination board will set tasks to test the vocal and musical abilities, acting imagination and scenic intelligence of the applicants. If one of the vocal numbers, the monologue, the poem or the choreography is not or only partially prepared, the aptitude test level II will be assessed as “failed”. A musical choreography will be developed in the group. Passing the aptitude test level II entitles the candidate to participate in aptitude test level III.
Aptitude test level III
1. Performance of a musical song of the examination board's choice from the material brought along
2. Group improvisation
3. Choreography from aptitude test level I and II tested without repetition
4. Instrumental performance
5. Musicology/aural training
6. The examination board is not obliged to test applicants on all points. Advice is not possible!
