The dramaturgy course at the Bayerische Theaterakademie August Everding takes place in cooperation with the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU). In close cooperation with the Institute for Theate Studies there, theories, aesthetics and forms of contemporary theatre are taught as well as the basics of intermediality and contemporary theatre research.
In addition, collaborations with municipal and state theatres as well as various festivals allow students to apply what they have learned in practice. Through international cooperations in the Erasmus program and partner networks such as E:UTSA, it is also possible to gain international experience during your studies.
What comes next?
The dramaturgy course prepares students for the fields of dramaturgy in drama and musical theatre. Dramaturges have a diverse range of tasks, the individual parts of which contribute significantly to the artistic profile of a theatre, festival, independent venue or group. They have extensive knowledge of art and culture, an interest in social, political and philosophical contexts, experience in analysing and evaluating aesthetic objects and a high level of written and spoken communication skills.
The ability to manage projects and intercultural skills are becoming increasingly important in dramaturgical practice. Graduates of the course can therefore also find a future field of activity beyond the theatre in very different areas (media, journalism, education, science).
